Honkai: Star Rail publisher and developer HoYoverse has announced that the game’s Version 2.2 update will launch on May 8, 2024. The new update, dubbed “Then Wake to Weep,” will not only usher in the climax of the current Penacony storyline but it will also introduce two new playable characters, the Festivity Auditions event, and more.
In the continuation of the game’s main story, players will enter a number of new Dreamscapes, including the Dreamflux Reef, and encounter a new special opponent called the “Harmonious Choir” The Great Septimus. Players will also be able to participate in the Festivity Auditions where they will attempt to vye for the title of Festive Superstar. Players will advance through each audition stage until they enter the Penacony Grand Theater.
The first of the two new 5-star characters that will be introduced in Version 2.2 is the Halovian songstress Robin, whom the players first met when they arrived at Penacony. She is a Physical element character under the Path of Harmony who is able to boost the damage of her allies but also allow them to perform additional actions with her Ultimate ability.
The second of the new 5-star characters is the cyborg cowboy Boothill, who is also a Physical element character but under the Path of the Hunt. Boothill, who is also a Galary Ranger like Acheron, is able to initiate duels with singular opponents, forcing them to attack him while they both do additional damage to each other.
Apart from Robin and Boothill, players will also get the opportunity to obtain 5-star characters Topaz & Numby as well as Master Diviner Fu Xuan during their respective rerun banners.
Furthermore, in continuation of Honkai: Star Rail‘s anniversary celebrations, the first Honkai: Star Rail Concert will be globally livestreamed on May 1, 2024, at 7:05 p.m. (UTC+8) through the Honkai: Star Rail’s official YouTube Channel.
Honkai: Star Rail Version 2.2 is scheduled to launch on May 8, 2024. The game is currently available on Windows, iOS, Android, and PlayStation 5.
