Genshin Impact developer and publisher HoYoverse is hosting its first Genius Invokation TCG Asia Invitational tournament this month, with a prize pool of CNY 500,000 (approx. USD 69,900). The event, which started last January 11 and is scheduled to last until January 21, 2024, is pitting 16 players invited from the Dynamic Cup held in China as well as the three The Prince Cup Asian regional tournaments.
The Genius Invokation TCG Asia Invitational consists of two phases, the group stage and the knockout stage, both of which features a double-elimination format. During the group stage, which is being held from January 11 to 14, the 16 players have been randomly divided into four groups where they will compete in best-of-three games to secure one of the eight spots in the knockout stage.
The knockout stage, which will happen on January 19 to 21, 2024, will feature best-of-five games while the grand finals will have a best-of-seven format. The champion of the tournament will take home the lion’s share of the prize pool, which amounts to CNY 250,000 (approx. USD 34,900).
The Genius Invokation TCG Asia Invitational is being live streamed on Twitch, YouTube, and X (formerly Twitter).
The Genius Invokation TCG was introduced as a new game mode in Genshin Impact last December 2022. The release of the tabletop card dueling game within Genshin Impact was followed by the Astra Carnival: The Prince Cup official international tournament as well as the Cat’s Tail Gathering community tournament, both of which were launched in 2023.
The inaugural Genshin Impact Genius Invokation TCG Asia Invitational is currently running from January 11 to 21, 2024.
