Western Digital Expands the My Cloud Lineup With the My Cloud EX2

Western Digital introduced their new line of personal cloud storage solutions a few months ago with the My Cloud and My Cloud EX4. Now, Western Digital expands that lineup with the My Cloud EX2 personal cloud storage solution.

The My Cloud EX2’s Two Drive Bays

The WD My Cloud EX2 is basically a two-bay edition of the My Cloud EX4 and is available in diskless, 4TB, 6TB, and 8TB variants. The drive-included variants feature WD Red hard drives that are specifically designed for NAS solutions. The drives can be set to either RAID 0 or RAID 1 with compatible for JBOD and spanning modes. Along with the AC and LAN ports, the back-side of the My Cloud EX2 features 2 USB3.0 ports for quick expansion of the EX2’s storage via external drives.

My Cloud EX2 users will be able to centralize and back up all of their desktop computers and laptops with WD SmartWare Pro for PC and Apple Time Machine for Mac. As with all of Western Digital’s My Cloud products, the EX2 can be accessed via the WD My Cloud app available on both iOS and Android. Through the WD My Cloud app users will be able to view photos, stream video, and share, save, and manage files. The WD My Cloud app also integrates with Dropbox, SkyDrive, and Google Drive.

The My Cloud EX2 can also share data via its integrated file server, FTP server, backup server, and P2P download server. Additionally, users can download and run a host of third party apps, including aMule, Icecast, Joomla!®, phpBB®, phpMyAdmin, Transmission, SqueezeCenter, and more. Users can also stream videos and photos to connected TVs, media players, gaming consoles and other DLNA®/UPnP® devices with  the included Twonky 7.2 server, DLNA-certified 1.5 media server, and built-in iTunes® server.

The WD My Cloud EX2 is now available at select retailers with an SRP of Php10,990 for the diskless My Cloud EX2, Php17,990 for the 4TB, Php22,990 for the 6TB, and Php28,990 for the 8TB variant. All variants of the My Cloud EX2 come with a two-year limited warranty.
