Transcend Shows Off Line of USB Type-C Storage Devices

With USB Type-C ports showing up in more and more devices, including laptops and smartphones, there’s an increasing need for portable storage devices with native USB Type-C connectors. And Transcend looks prepared to meet that need as the company recently showcased some of its latest USB Type-C equipped portable storage solutions.

For those who need high-performance portable storage, the Transcend has three new USB Type-C portable SSD drives – the ESD230C, ESD240C, and ESD250C – that feature USB 3.1 Gen 2 interfaces that are rated to provide transfer speeds of up to 520MB/s. On the other hand, for those who need to store a large amount of data, the company has its StoreJet 25MC high-capacity portable hard drive, which features a three-stage shock protection system and a SuperSpeed USB 3.1 Gen 1 interface.

There’s also Transcend’s line of USB Type-C flash drives for easy transferring of data between devices, such as smartphones. The JetFlash 890 and JetFlash 850 feature both USB 3.1 interfaces and USB OTG (On-The-Go) technology. The JetFlash 890 is also equipped with a standard USB 3.1 Gen 1 Type-A connector to allow users to transfer data from multiple devices through either the connectors.

Lastly, Transcend’s new duo of USB Type-C memory card readers allow regular consumers and professionals to easily transfer files from their memory cards. The RDC8 is a 3-slot card reader that supports SD, microSD, and CF cards and features a USB 3.1 Gen 1 interface while the RDC2 smart reader is an OTG (On-The-Go) card reader meant for use with smartphones and tablets. The RDC2 supports both SD and microSD cards and is also equipped with a standard USB Type-A port that allows users to connect other devices such as USB flash drives, keyboards, and mice.
