Tekken 8 Release Date Announced, 6 More Characters Revealed

Tekken 8 developer and publisher Bandai Namco Entertainment has announced that the next major entry in the long-running fighting game series will be released on January 26, 2024. The company also unveiled six more characters that will be joining the game’s initial 32-character roster.

Bandai Namco Entertainment unveiled Kuma, Leo, Shaheen, Steve, Dragunov, and Yoshimitsu as the latest characters to join Tekken 8‘s roster, bringing the total number of confirmed characters to 24. This means only 8 more characters have yet to be officially revealed for the game’s initial roster.

Also unveiled is the new Arcade Quest single player game mode where players can create and customize their own avatar and “visit” different arcades to compete in matches designed to not only teach them new techniques but also improve their overall play. Arcade Quest aims to mimic the experience and journey of real life players aiming to get into and get better at the game.

Tekken 8 is said to feature a new combat system that favors aggressive play for more exciting matches. It will also feature improved customization choices for characters, with the new customization options as well as the ability to change the color, size, and position of accessories.

Lastly, the preorder bonuses for the game’s Standard, Deluxe, and Ultimate Editions have also been announced. The Standard Edition will include the Paul Phoenix avatar costume set. Those who preorder the PlayStation 5 version will also receive the Mokujin and Testujin avatar skins.

The Deluxe Edition will come with all the Standard Edition bonuses along with the Playable Character Year 1 Pass, which unlocks four characters released after the game’s launch, as well as the Kinjin avatar skin. It also includes the Gold Suit Pack of playable character costumes for all 32 initial characters.

The Ultimate Edition includes all content and bonuses of the Deluxe Edition along with avatar skins for Kazuya, Jin, and Jun as well as 32 patterns of the classic Tekken t-shirt set that players can personalize.

Tekken 8 is scheduled for release on January 26, 2024, for the PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam. It is now available for preorder.
