The 2024 FlyFF World Championships was recently held in Manila last October 12, 2024 and saw eight teams from around the world battle it out for the glory of being crowned world champion and the lion’s share of the tournament’s USD 110,000 prize pool. After a full day of matches, Team Astral was officially crowned this year’s FlyFF World Champion.
The team, consisting of players from the USA, France, and Chile, breezed through the tournament’s upper bracket, securing the first grand finals slot and a +1 match point advantage. On the other hand, their would-be grand finals opponent, the Philippines’ TheBoss, had to battle their way through the lower bracket.
In the best-of-five grand finals, TheBoss was surprisingly able to take the first game from Team Astral, the latter consequentially conceding their aforementioned match point advantage. However, Team Astral quickly bounced back and ultimately won the grand finals and the world championship.
While Team Astral was awarded the trophy and USD 80,000, TheBoss received USD 20,000, and third-place Shadow took home USD 10,000.
