Globe-AcadArena Merit Esports Scholarship Applications Are Now Open

Globe Telecom and AcadArena have opened applications for their Globe-AcadArena Merit Esports Scholarship (GAMES) fund, the first esports scholarship program of its kind in the Philippines. The applications are open to members from accredited student organizations under the AcadArena Alliance program.

“This program is our way of giving back to the student-gamers that have been so passionate about the local gaming space for so long now,” said Globe’s Gaming and Esports Lead Dennis Christian Dominguez. “We hope that this will empower them to chase their dreams, regardless of whatever they may be.”

“We’re excited to bring the GAMES Fund to life to support student-gamers excelling both in and out of play,” said AcadArena’s Co-Founder and Director of Student Programs, Ariane Lim. “We have a lot of plans on how we can improve this more with Globe and our tried and tested campus esports ecosystem in AcadArena. This is just the start.”

The scholarships under the Globe-AcadArena Merit Esports Scholarship (GAMES) fund are divided into three categories: the Competitive Merit, the Leadership Merit, and the Family Good Game Grant.

The Competitive Merit and Leadership Merit categories look at the students’ academic performance and campus esports contributions within their Alliance student organizations. Esports-related achievements outside the Alliance student organization will also be considered by the program. The scholars chosen to be part of either category will be awarded either of the following:

  • Gold Award – 100% tuition coverage (max. PHP 30,000 or a PHP 5000 stipend per month for either the active or the next semester for state universities.)
  • Silver Award – 50% tuition coverage (max. PHP 15,000 or a PHP 3000 stipend per month for either the active or the next semester for state universities.)

The Family Good Game Grant will be awarded to family-oriented, model student gamers in need that also, like the Competitive Merit and the Leadership Merit categories, have good academic performance and contributions to their respective Alliance student organizations. Scholars under this category will be awarded one of the following:

  • Gold Grant (PHP 50,000) – One awardee. A lump sum of PHP 50,000 will be awarded to the top, eligible applicant.
  • Silver Grant (PHP 25,000) – Three awardees. A lump sum of PHP 25,000 will be awarded to each awardee.
