Square Enix has released a new gameplay trailer for the upcoming and highly anticipated Final Fantasy 7 Remake during Sony’s recent State of Play stream. There hasn’t been any major reveals regarding the remake since it was initially announced in 2015 so this new trailer has definitely rekindled some excitement for the game.
The new trailer shows off some new gameplay and cinematic footage including a teaser for the flower scene where Aerith and Cloud first meet as well as our first look at the remake’s rendition of Sepiroth. The visuals of the game looks like it’s been improved significantly since the first trailer came out in 2015. The models are more detailed, the lighting effects are better, and several characters (including Cloud and Barret) got redesigns.
We still haven’t gotten a release date for the Final Fantasy 7 Remake but Square Enix did announce that more information on the game should be revealed in June, probably during E3. The trailer also begins with the statement “The Return Draws Closer” so there might be a sliver of hope that the game will come out in the next few years.
