CES 2020: Lenovo Legion Announces Y740S Gaming Laptop and BoostStation External GPU

Lenovo Legion unveiled several new products at CES 2019 last week including the new Y740S, the company’s latest thin and light gaming laptop, as well as the new BoostStation external GPU accessory.

The new Y740S, which weighs only around 1.7kg, will feature up to an Intel 10th generation Intel Core i9 processor, a 15.6-inch 4K IPS display, up to 32GB of DDR4 RAM, up to 1TB of PCIe SSD storage, and more. The new laptop also features a new flexible 180-degree hinge, a Dolby Atmos speaker system, as well as a Thunderbolt 3 port for the separately sold BoostStation external GPU accessory.

Surprisingly, the Lenovo Legion Y740S won’t include a discrete GPU and will rely on integrated graphics when its used on-the-go. For home use, the Y740S can be attached to the BoostStation external GPU for improved performance for gaming. The Lenovo Legion BoostStation can be equipped with either an NVIDIA GeForce or AMD Radeon GPU and features a tool-free design for convenient installation of graphics cards.

Pricing for the new 15-inch Lenovo Legion Y740S gaming laptop will start at USD 1,099.99 while the Lenovo Legion BoostStation external GPU starts at USD 249.99 with the option to either purchase it bare or bundled with either an NVIDIA GeForce RTX 2060 or AMD Radeon RX 5700 XT GPU. Both products are expected to be available sometime in May 2020.
