AMD has launched its new Ryzen 8000G series processors, its first lineup of desktop processors featuring its new Ryzen AI technology. The new APUs, built on AMD’s Zen 4 architecture, also come with Radeon 700M series GPUs and are designed for those who want to build a new AM5-based rig without discrete graphics.
Leading the new lineup is the Ryzen 7 8700G, which features eight cores, 16 threads, 24MB of cache, and Radeon 780M graphics. It’s followed by the Ryzen 8600G is equipped with six cores, 12 threads, 22MB of cache, and Radeon 760M graphics. The two models come with AMD’s new Ryzen AI technology, including the first NPU on a desktop processor, which is meant to optimize AI workloads, improve AI processing efficiency, and allow support for new AI utilizations, such as AI-powered noise cancellation.
The rest of the new lineup include the Ryzen 5 8500G, which comes with the same specs as the Ryzen 5 8600G minus the Ryzen AI NPU, as well the Ryzen 3 8300G, which features four cores, eight threads, and 12MB of cache. The Ryzen 3 8300G also lacks the Ryzen AI NPU. Both the Ryzen 5 8500G and Ryzen 3 8300G come with Radeon 740M graphics.
The Ryzen 8000G series also features AMD EXPO technology for higher memory frequencies and better timings, as well as Precision Boost Overdrive for easy overclocking.
