Rockstar Games has released the first official gameplay video for Red Dead Redemption 2 that gives us a good glimpse at some of the things players will experience in the sequel.
“With Red Dead Redemption 2, Rockstar Games aims to create a living world that is not simply open, but deeper, more interactive, and detailed than ever – combining action, storytelling and gameplay in new ways as you live, ride, and fight to survive as an outlaw in a notorious gang. The game is an attempt to capture this pivotal moment when the age of outlaws was ending, and the modern world was born.”
The video not only introduces the vast, open-world of Red Dead Redemption 2 but it also introduces us to the game’s protagonist, Arthur Morgan, as well as the Van Der Linde Gang, which Arthur is part of. Notably, a younger John Marston, the original game’s protagonist, as well as his would-be Abigail are also part of the gang. Players will be able to interact with all the members of the Van Der Linde Gang and will use the gang’s constantly moving camp as their base of operations.
The video also introduces fans to some of the game’s new mechanics such as new ways to interact with NPCs as well as different ways to handle situations. Just like the original game, the sequel also features an honor system and player choices may have lasting effects on the game. The video also reveals new combat and weapon mechanics, hunting, new horse/mount mechanics, and more.
Red Dead Redemption 2 is scheduled for release on the PlayStation 4 and Xbox One on October 26, 2018. You can check out the new gameplay video above.
