Instagram Direct Lets You Send Photos and Videos to Specific People

Instagram has announced their new Direct service which lets you send photos and videos you take to individuals of your choosing.

You’ll now have the option to share the Instagram photos and videos you’ve taken with either your Followers or use Direct to share it with only a few people you choose. You’ll also be able to check who’s seen the photo or video you’ve sent as well as who’s Liked it and read your recipients’ comments.

As for receiving photos and videos through Direct, you’ll instantly see photos and videos sent to you by people you follow while content from people you don’t follow will go into your requests so you’ll have a choice whether to view them or not.

“When you open Instagram, you’ll now see a new icon in the top right corner of your home feed. Tap it to open your inbox where you’ll see photos and videos that people have sent to you. To send a photo or video to specific people, tap the camera button to enter the same simple photo or video capture and editing screens. At the top of the share screen, you’ll see the option to share with your followers (“Followers”) or to send to specific people (“Direct”). To send using Direct, tap the names of the people you want to send your photo or video to, write your caption, tap “send” and you’re done.”

The new Direct feature is available on the latest version of Instagram for iOS and Android.
